GLOBAL WARMING PROJECT COORDINATOR

Colorado Conservation Voters Education Fund (CCVEF), a statewide non-profit environmental organization, seeks an experienced organizer to serve as the full-time Project Coordinator for the group's Global Warming Capacity Project.

In 2007, our national partner, the League of Conservation Voters Education Fund (LCVEF), launched a major campaign to elevate global warming in the 2008 presidential primaries. The Heat Is On campaign ( www.heatison.org ) has been active in the early-voting states for more than a year and has been successful in raising the profile - both with all of the candidates and in the public - of this issue, garnering hundreds of media stories and recruiting 2,000 volunteers to ask the candidates about their global warming plans.

Building off of this success, CCVEF is launching a statewide campaign to make global warming a top priority for voters, and particularly for Colorado 's congressional delegation.

The Project Coordinator will oversee the day-to-day planning and implementation of the program in Colorado.

The Project Coordinator will work closely with the Civic Engagement Director and coalition partners to develop an overall plan, recruit volunteers, conduct outreach to opinion leaders, generate earned media, and engage voters and the congressional delegation about the urgency and importance of global warming. The Project Coordinator will be responsible for working in several communities across the state, and particularly in rural areas.

  • Meet with opinion leaders (reporters, editorial boards, state elected officials, donors, etc) to engage them on the threats and opportunities associated with climate change, and to engage them in the solutions
  • Educate the public through town hall forums and other public presentations

Qualifications:

The ideal candidates will have a college degree and at least 1-3 years experience in organizing and advocacy. Skills should include:
